As a therapist I work hard to understand my patients at a personal level. I provide a warm and trusting atmosphere where we can explore the difficulties in their lives. Together, through the therapeutic relationship we work on emotional problems to make deep and lasting changes. We address road blocks which may have developed over the years and seem to keep them stuck in negative patterns. Through an increased awareness of these patterns alternative choices can be made by my patients. Working together in therapy my patients are increasingly able to live more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
I have over 20 years experience as a therapist working with adults and adolescents on issues related to depression, anxiety, and relationship problems. Over the years I have provided consultation to mental health professionals on a variety of issues relating to parenting, divorce/separation, and behavior problems, including eating disorders. My private practice includes individual and couples psychotherapy on a variety of mental health issues.

What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a form of mental health treatment sometimes referred to as "talk therapy". Through the relationship with the therapist therapy helps to access parts of the mind that may be interfering with social, emotional, and intellectual abilities. The process involves learning about new ways to overcome difficulties, develop inner strengths or skills, in order to make positive changes in one's life.
What can I expect on my first visit?
During your first visit we will talk a bit about yourself, your background, what brings you to therapy and your expectations.
How long is a session?
Sessions are 45 minutes in length.
Will you put me on medication?
In Minnesota, psychologists and clinical social workers cannot prescribe medication. Although many individuals prefer not to use medication, on occasion it may be helpful. Your therapist may recommend that you consult with a psychiatrist to determine whether medication would be useful.
